‘Trees For Travellers’ initiative.

Beginning with its first batch to Tunisia, the community's Fayze Husayni will plant a native tree at Oxy Park to offset the carbon footprint of every traveller

Fayze Husayni, the trust that facilitates pilgrimage for members of the Dawoodi Bohra community, today announced a new green initiative, ‘Trees for Travellers’ as part of its travel programme. Beginning with its trip to Tunisia this season, a tree will be planted in the name of the travellers at Oxy Park, Nagpur. This is part of a greening initiative of Project Rise, the global humanitarian and social welfare initiative of the Dawoodi Bohra community.

A return flight from Mumbai to Tunis leaves a carbon footprint of roughly 1 ton of carbon dioxide per passenger. Over its lifetime, a single tree can absorb about the same amount, offsetting the emissions of each pilgrim's journey while restoring green cover and biodiversity.

Travellers will receive a personalised Oxy Park Tree Adoption Certificate in their pre-departure travel kit. The certificate links to a living tree, geo-tagged and digitally trackable, that will keep growing long after the journey ends.
